Association Workshop Bioeconomy is defined as the sum of all industrial and economic sectors that use biological resources such as plants, animals and microorganisms. That may not sound especially exciting, but it means nothing less than the conversion from a petroleum-based economy to a biomass-based economy. It includes agriculture, forestry, fisheries, food industry, paper production, chemistry, biotechnology and energy production. To cope with this transformation, investment is made in technology-centered innovation. However, scarcity of resources, world hunger and climate change create a drastic need for societal changes, social innovations in lifestyles and consumption patterns. Prosperity and quality of life must be redefined in a finite world. During a two-day workshop at the Academy for Nature Conservation on the island of Vilm, together with the participants, we expanded an existing mind map based on a general study (Lahl, 2014). This overview provided an opportunity to add other perspectives and to lay the foundations for the next collective steps. nextlearning was responsible for the design and moderation of the workshop, as well as for creating a documentation of the results. This serves as a support for communication on the issue within the organizations.
